• When we picked up the fireplace mantel we also picked up two little dressers that I thought would be perfect as nightstands in our bedroom. They are a great size, have a nice surface for lights and books and monitors and then three drawers for storage. I love the style and I knew they would be perfect next to our barn wood headboard. I love mixing different styles. I love the look of items collected over time instead of purchased all at one time at one big furniture store. Plus, these have a great story! I worked out a deal […]

  • We picked a mantel for the fireplace. Seriously, I am so excited about it! We brought it home (to my Dad’s) with a couple of small dressers that I think we will use as nightstands. I’ve almost got them finished, so I’ll show you those soon! I got all the protruding nails out and then I scraped it and sanded it to get all the flaky paint chips off of it, then I painted it in Annie Sloan Paris Gray Chalk Paint. There was no rhyme or reason to the painting, I just kind of slopped it on really thick, […]

  • I’ve got a couple of sneak peeks, but really, I can’t show you anything, because it just won’t look cool, until it is in the house, but I wanted to show you a couple of things I’ve been working on… The first is an old door I picked up a month ago. I’ve had one intention for this door since I picked it up. I would love to get more….and then maybe sell them too! But, so far, this one is for us…. I measured the inside panel of the door and had a glass company cut a mirror for […]

  • One of my new clients here in town bought a dresser from me and decided to have one of their dressers finished as well, which of course makes me happy! What made me even happier was that she wanted it purple! You know that I never get to paint things in girly colors, so when I do, I get excited about it. Here’s the dresser mid painting. The unpainted drawer needed to be fixed, so I glued and wood puttied and sanded and painted. I am pretty sure you can’t tell which one I fixed. I distressed it, waxed it […]

  • Happy Labor Day! Today is my birthday. Nothing crazy planned, just going to enjoy the day with my family and then celebrate Porter’s 7th Birthday as well, since his is tomorrow! Here’s a little Fargo White Butterfly for you to enjoy! I picked up this dresser at a garage sale. It was pretty gross. But honestly I had been to 5 second hand stores and three garage sales, I this was the first piece that caught my eye and was in my budget. I had some help with the cleaning. I wanted to see what would happen if I accented […]

  • I spent all day Friday at garage sales. It was exhausting. And guess what?! I came home with only 3 pieces of furniture. It was kind of a bust. But, some days are like that. We also spent Sunday at the Elkhorn Flea Market. I do love that Flea Market, but it was hot, and by 10:00 a great deal of stuff had been marked SOLD. So that was a bust as well. However, it is so fun to wander around there and see what people are selling and what people are buying! Last year I was looking for anything […]

  • This little gal came home with me from the barn sale. Super cute and a quick makeover makes it rock. My favorite color: Lots of distressing and some wax. And it was great! I also got to use a knob that I’ve been waiting to use on the perfect piece! The magic of paint. Just love it.

  • At the barn sale a few weeks ago, I grabbed this wash stand off the barn sale lady. It was in fantastic shape. The client that purchased it wanted to do a fun color with some good knobs and I was happy to oblige! I left the top because it was so gorgeous, then painted the base in turquoise and distressed it with some 80 grit sandpaper. Then added those great red knobs. I just love how it turned out. So great! Funky, fun and functional. How’s that for alliteration?!

  • I found this little dresser thing at a garage sale and knew I could do something with it. It was in pretty bad shape. There was supposed to be two more drawers in it, but they weren’t there. So I took the back off and then used the sawsall to cut off those triangle pieces and that piece of wood that was a guide for the drawers. I thought about putting a shelf in there, but I wanted to make it a little more versatile. So, I left it off. It wouldn’t be hard at all to put a shelf […]

  • I love these old desks. When my neighbor called and said her mom was going to get rid of it, she immediately thought of me and brought it over! I love my neighbors. I didn’t want to get to crazy on the desk, I just wanted something simple and understated, yet gave it a little punch. I think it turned out great! Old desk: New desk: Love that number 22 with some stripes! Kirsty
