  • Do anyone else’s kids stand in the wood measurement bin at the checkout at Home Depot? Mine do every time we go….and we go all the time! Sometimes their little heads get stuck, sometimes the Fire Department has to come and break them out, sometimes we have to use a little butter to get their heads out…whatever…. So, I saw this pinned on Pinterest. It’s a piece of wood made to look like a ginormous ruler. This is from Little Blue Prints. Have you seen her blog. Ahhh-mazing. So, I needed to make my own….in my own version, of course. […]

  • Do you have a piece of furniture that, if you could, you would go over your budget and splurge on? I have one. Eh-hem, had one…. Enter my new hutch. Funny story….my friend/neighbor and I were taking the day to go and have lunch, venture to Hobby Lobby (it’s an hour away) and do some antiquing. On our way to Hob Lob I searched my good ole’ Craigslist App and found a piece that I’ve been dreaming of for a long time and it happened to be in a town on the way to where we were going. It was […]

  • That’s right. Turquoise coffee table. And I made if from a FIVE dollar farm table. Here’s the story. I found this farm table at a garage sale last summer for 5 dollars. It’s been all over our house. It most recently took up space in our “sun room” as a computer table. But this computer work station is in the works of an overhaul. So, I took the table away. I took the top off, it wasn’t attached yet anyway….oh, and if you must know it was painted sharkey gray by Martha Stewart. I then took the legs off and […]

  • I found this little thing at Goodwill for $34. Pretty good price for a trunk, I think. Free is better, but I find they can get rather expensive. I debated painting it, but in the end, I really wanted it white. So, I painted it white and did something fun with that red strip. The red strip I painted navy and I love it! A little distressing and it makes it totally perfect, but not perfect! That’s right, that is the cowhide rug in the living room. I moved it over there and we love it there. Plus the dogs […]

  • I’ve got a bunch of things to discuss today. The most important of these is this: 1. Vodka in the eyes. Apparently all the kids in college are doing it. HOW STUPID CAN YOU BE? Seriously. Absolutely ridiculous and if my kids ever do this, I swear I will rip their eyeballs right out of their sockets. Do you hear me kids?! 2. A more pleasant topic. Yesterday I was furniture shopping at Goodwill. I went by the discount clothing bin and these pants caught my eye: Who doesn’t love a pair of Gap blue capris in the summer?! So, […]

  • I’ve wanted a chair like this FOREVER. I just love it. I got it at fifty percent off at my area St. Vinny’s. So, I spent all of fifteen dollars on this girl. The fabric however, not so much lovin’ it. And the cushion was a little firm. Remember how I said I swear a lot when I do upholstery. Well, I still do. I just couldn’t wait to get started on this. I really wanted to do a linen, but, I’m cheap. So I grabbed a drop cloth for twenty bucks at HD and washed it. I was going […]

  • I decided to take Beulah and make her shine to help her find a new home. She’s been listed for quite some time and spent some time down at the Pop-up store. Here she is when I first picked her up: Here she is after I painted her, the first time: I loved her this way, kind of unique, a little different…. And here she is now. After a couple coats of white paint. I loved her that way, but I LOVE her this way. Of course, such is my luck, a gentleman emailed this morning after I had painted […]

  • This is a quick and easy remake. YOU can do this at home. No fear. The weather was great today. 33 degrees! So, I tried spray painting in the garage. It worked! Mainly because it took me about 90 seconds to paint this lamp. Not long enough for the spray can to even stop spraying. I took this lamp that I think was an ugly gross eggplant color before and painted it white. It sat for awhile….without a shade….then I picked up this ho-hum shade at Target and it sat like this for awhile. It makes for a nice prop. […]

  • If you give a girl a drill…. She will take take down mirrors. If you give a girl a drill…. she will then decide to paint. If you give a girl a drill, she will change out a few lights. If you give a girl a drill, she will have to put up new mirrors. And so, If you give a girl a drill, she will have a brand new bathroom in a day. YEAH! Okay here’s the lowdown.  I didn’t get in trouble for taking the mirrors down. In fact, he barely bat an eyelash at it. I’m pretty […]
