• I found this buffet on Craigslist. It isn’t old and was a little above what I would normally pay, but I talked her down a little because I had seen it on CL for several weeks and knew she wanted it gone as she was moving. So, I snatched it up and knew exactly what it was going to be when I picked it up. It seemed like it needed a little update from the dark and flowery motif it had going on….so I eyeballed some stripes and painstakingly painted the grooves in the legs and then waxed it with […]

  • My Dad’s neighbors, bless their hearts, brought me this dresser that they picked up at an estate sale. Perfectly good dresser and everything worked great! I knew I wanted to do a two-toned piece at some point again and this piece seemed to be just the piece to do it on. The previous owner of this made it. By hand. And it is solid as a rock. Love handmade. The previous handles were just a basic wood and were a little high for my liking, so I needed to change those out. The holes were too wide for any standard […]

  • Happy Labor Day! Today is my birthday. Nothing crazy planned, just going to enjoy the day with my family and then celebrate Porter’s 7th Birthday as well, since his is tomorrow! Here’s a little Fargo White Butterfly for you to enjoy! I picked up this dresser at a garage sale. It was pretty gross. But honestly I had been to 5 second hand stores and three garage sales, I this was the first piece that caught my eye and was in my budget. I had some help with the cleaning. I wanted to see what would happen if I accented […]

  • I picked up this table at a “Donation Sale”. You go and grab what you want and pay what you can or feel like you should. Those are tricky, in my opinion. I mean, who doesn’t want to donate money to a good cause?! BUT, who wants to pay retail prices for garage sale items?! In my opinion I paid a fair amount for several items…. Then, later that day, Porter, our oldest, and Jack our middle decided that they wanted to donate their old bikes to the sale to help other people….How awesome is that?! Truly these kids amaze […]

  • Another failed attempt at a proper before and after….slacker. Imagine two matching dressers, sitting in a garage waiting for some love…. In comes my friend Bridget who is a little afraid of color, but knows that if she wants these pieces made over she needs to go bold or go home. So she makes a decision, we discuss, we plan and I paint. Decision and Execution successful. Gorgeous coordinating dressers that aren’t too matchy-matchy.  LOVE how these turned out. LOVE.

  • She needed a little more love than others often do. And it makes me so sad, because she was in such disarray… An old radio cabinet that no longer worked, it sat in an attic needing some love for a long time. I couldn’t decide what to do with it, so it sat in my garage for a month. I decided she needed some Florence. And some hinged doors in the back, so I added some with some wood I had hanging around. A friend mentioned she’d be a great doll house! Of course, my boys were all about hiding […]

  • Can you believe I actually thought this had potential?! It took some elbow grease, a face mask and a bunch of these with some wood glue: But I got her to look a little better. Then she got sanded. A lot. Then some great Chalk Paint in the newest color, Florence. And a little dark wax. And she is dreamy. Just plain dreamy. Love. Her name is Meranda.

  • Sad, sad little cabinet…. All she needed was a little love…. And then she became a happy little cabinet… I named her Eloise. I heart her.
