Thank you all so much for the well wishes! We are very excited about all of the things happening right now! Fun times ahead for sure!
A few weeks ago we made a dining table for our patio. I really, really wanted a square table, but our patio just wasn’t set up for it. No big deal.
I decided awhile ago that I was going to use barn wood and black metal pipes. Figuring out what size and length of the pipes was a pain in the butt, we had to go back to Home Depot twice for different sizes, BUT the putting together business was super easy.
We used some old pieces of wood I grabbed from a barn that was coming down, and then we gathered our pipes, connectors and feet from HD. We have 97 million monster trucks. They multiply, like rabbits, I don’t know how we have so many….
Tom put the table top together after I cut the boards and sanded them down.
We put it together the same way that we do all the other tables, Kreg Jig, sit on top, squeeze boards together, screw in. Easy. Ehem…
Then while Tom was off flitting around town somewhere I put the base together. He does that, he flits. No, he doesn’t really. He was probably going to get me ice cream or something.
After that, we just flipped the top over and screwed it to those round thing-a-ma-jigs.
We didn’t want the bottoms to stain the patio with rust, so Tom cut round pieces of scrap cedar using the band saw and then we attached them to the feet.
I haven’t put anything on the wood yet. Its been sitting in a barn for about 50 years so I figure it can handle a little rain.
I just got some outdoor chairs from Ikea and the patio is just beautiful with all the mixes wood and wicker and metal and I just love it out there!
When it quits raining I will take a picture of the outside!
xoxo

I heart this table. I want one just like it, we are getting a new patio in the next month or so and I can’t decide what kind of table to get. I also want to see a picture of your chairs, I need those too! Where do you get all your barn wood?
